Bergen Group Kimek is using the new sQs deadmanssystem
The Bergen Group - Kimek is a company situated in Kirkenes in the North of Norway. Close to the Russian border. Kimek has an 80 meter long conditioned hall which is used for ship repair. With its location close to Russia, the Russian market is very important for Kimek as well as the Oil & Gas activities in the northern region of Norway, which will be important for the future.
Kimek is owned by the Bergen Group who has its main office in Bergen. The main focus of Bergen Group is the offshore business and special ships. Bergen Group has more than 2000 employees along the Norwegian coastline and are therefore one of the largest yards company in Norway.
Kimek is doing a lot of surface treatment on ship hulls. Sandblasting is very often a part of these projects. By using the new Safety Quick Stop dead man system, manufactured by Straaltechniek International, they are now able to keep on sandblasting over a longer period of time without the need for of an operator to rest.
