Gamma Turbines - Rutten

Exceptional Wear-resistance

Thanks to the use of extremely strong alloys, RUTTEN turbines already offered wear resistance 8 times greater than the service life of traditional turbines. RUTTEN's constant aim has been to further improve this performance. Now, a significant step has been taken in this direction. The GAMMA® turbine, equipped with active two-sided blading, will make it possible to attain useful service lives from 8 to 16 times those of conventional turbines.

Marked increase in projection speed

Given a similar rotation speed and identical turbine diameter, Gamma® turbines provide a 25% higher abrasive projection speed. Thanks to this increased speed and the fluidity of the outflow, the shotblasting quality and capacity are noticeably enhanced, from 10 to 25%, depending on the application.

Efficiency of Gamma turbines - Energy savings

Use of an extra-strong alloy and blading-surface finish combined with drastic impact reduction, all contribute to a noticeable increase in projection efficiency. Energy economy is of the order of 10%.

For all types of abrasives…

The exceptional abrasion-resistance of GAMMA® turbines means that all types of projection particles may be used: from extra-hard angular grit to round shot, including glass, ceramic and plastic beads, etc. This appreciable advantage distinguishes the GAMMA® turbine from its competitors. In fact, the use of angular grit makes it possible to attain surface conditions that enhance the bonding of coatings, and their use poses no problem for the GAMMA® turbines. Service life, all other factors being equal, will also be 8 to 16 times that of conventional turbines.

"Bi-metal" impellors and control cages designed for an extra-long service life.

RUTTEN has always sought to improve the service life of its shot blasting equipment. With that aim, the control cages and impellors are made out of two materials. For the control cages for example, the wear zones have been equipped with barrettes fashioned from an extra strong alloy. Similarly, the impellor arms have been exchanged by replaceable parts, also made from the extra-strong alloy. At present, the service life of these parts is similar to the service life of the blades. Moreover, this striking innovation has been patented.

Innovation in the service of maintenance…

Each wheel housing may be assembled with the motor direct coupled or with an axle in the event that turbine rotation speeds are different from the synchronism speeds. The housings come complete with treated armour plating, easily disassembled. When direct coupled, the motors are somewhat transformed. It is actually necessary to equip each motor with a special seal on the turbine side.

Development of new turbines must take the housings into consideration, as it is an essential component of the overall equipment.

In this regard, development efforts have focussed on the "ease" of assembly and disassembly of the turbines.

Machine renovation

In case of machine renovation, our engineers adapt the wheel housing so that the turbines can be mounted on every conventional blast wheel machine
